Upcycled School Desk {Girl Style}

My honey got his hands on a buttload of old school desks (mostly vintage) a few months back and ever since I’ve been thinking up ways to redo them.

Supplies: School Desk, Chalkboard Paint, Watermelon Colored Spray Paint, Masking Tape, Paint Brush.

Cost: Under $20

This particular desk was designed for my 7 year old niece; it’s totally her style and it gives her a cute little workspace for when she comes to visit her auntie. Pink is her favorite color and she is a true artist so I knew both the watermelon spray paint and the chalkboard paint would be perfect.

This upcycle took me an entire day to complete only because of the long waits between paint coats. The next desk upcycle will be made for my little boy. It will be a little different but equally awesome, I promise.

Laguna Hills + Burbank Trip

We took a little trip to Orange County over the weekend. It was such a nice little vacation in such a gorgeous place. We spent the first day in Laguna Hills, visiting family and attending the annual Christmas party, before dinner we took the kiddos to Beckenham Park to let them run around a play after the long car ride. We spent the next day exploring the city and enjoying a day of leisure in Burbank. We even got to see Walt Disney Studios, which happens to house my son’s all time favorite mouse; Mickey! The fence was lined with Mickey Mouse Heads, it was so neat! On the way home we had a bit of traffic and some weird weather but it turned out to be a great weekend!

Cousins + Cartwheels

Before Liam got sick last week, I took him and his cousin Zoey to the park for a day of fun. Not only did they have a blast but they pretty much ran the show. I always tell them, “I must look like a jungle gym to you.” but that day- due to the presence of an actual jungle gym, I got a short and sweet break ;)

Zoey ran around doing cart wheels, jumping off of the monkey bars and pumping like a pro in her swing while Liam waddled behind and pretty much dangled helpless in the swing while I took pictures, poor little guy haha.

It such a beautiful and quiet day and the kids were being so surprisingly cooperative that I decided to take them to the bowling alley before we went home for a bite to eat.

It was a great day with the little ones but let’s be honest, everyday with them is a blessing and good thing we soaked up the sun and the last little bits of Fall because two days later we woke up to snow!

Live Laugh Craft | DIY Braided Fabric Headbands

Welcome back for another round of Live Laugh Craft! If you weren't around last week when the series launched, here’s the rundown: Live Laugh Craft is a weekly/biweekly series co hosted by Monique and myself, it’s all about being crafty and thrifty college students who have fun!

. Everyone week or so we both create a common craft, whether it be a paper craft, jewelry making or other random DIY projects.This week we decided to make headbands!

I even got to use my favorite model, she was an awesome little helper too!

SUPPLIES: fabric scraps, scissors, hair ties & sewing machine or needle and thread

Pretty Floral Fabric.

Step-By-Step Instructions

1.) Cut or rip your fabric into strips that are about 1 inches wide and 20 inches long. 2.) Tie 3 pieces of fabric into a knot on one end. 3.) Braid your fabric pieces for the entire length. 4.) Sew off the ends of your fabric rope. 5.) Sew hair tie onto one end of fabric rope. 6.) Complete your headband by sewing the other ends of the tie and rope.

Growing Pains

My niece is starting the second grade next Monday, while I start my last year of College.

It’s hard to believe that she has grown up so much, just over the last year or so. I always tell her how grown up she acts and how it makes me sad, she just smiles and says, “Auntie, I will always be your baby girl.” It melts my heart because I know she means it.

Sometimes I wonder where the time goes and wish it would just slow the heck down.
