Inspire Me | Vol. 3

I know, I know. I skipped a week but last week was an epic one, and not in a good way. My mother, me and my nearly 1 year old son were in a really scary car accident, my car was totaled and my nerves were shot for at least a week. You will never know how scary it is to have a child in your car during an accident until it happens, which I PRAY to the good Lord doesn’t!

I may be exaggerating but I felt like my son was in a bubble or like he had angels around him. A trailer came off of the truck it was behind and slammed into mine and my son’s side of the car. We all walked away from it and went home but I was pretty sore for a few days. I am still feeling inspired and would love to share my little lineup!

Enjoy!

After this week, I believe in angels.

DIY Smudge Stick

Ever since I moved out of my mom’s house a few years ago, she’s made me Smudge Sticks. I can remember her burning hers throughout the house when I was little and.. well, forever.  Anytime we were going through a family tragedy or just stressful times I would ask my mom to “burn sage.”

I’ve started making my own and want to share a simple picture tutorial to show how easy it is!

Enjoy!

cover photo
“Smudging, the sacred smoke blessing, is a ceremony for cleansing and purification for the physical and spiritual bodies. Smudging calls on the spirits of sacred herbs and plants to drive away negative energies and to restore balance.”
FRESH SAGE PLANT
Sage is believed to be a masculine plant that reduces or eliminates negative energy.
 supplies

You can use an abalone shell to catch ashes while cleansing your home as well as a spot for your smudge stick.

You will also need a nice and thick yarn or thread as well as a handful of fresh sage. This particular stick turned out to be 12 inches long but you can make them any size you’d like.

wrap

Let your stick dry out for a week or even longer.

hang and dry

Once it’s dry, you can start cleansing your home of negative energy!

Start at the North end of your home and work you way around clockwise, circling and meeting back in the same room you started in. Some people use a feather to bat the smoke in a clockwise motion while it burns in an abalone shell. It’s up to you though.

I hope this helped in ridding all negativity from your life and home. <3

Handmade Gift Exchange Summer 2012 [To Receive]

I was having a pretty rough day last Monday, life has been all but calm and I needed to take a nice long drive to clear my head. When I got home from my little adventure.. I noticed a package on my front porch. I hadn’t received my gift from the Gift Exchange so I concluded that this HAD to be it!
And I was right, it was!
I felt like a little kid on Christmas, let me tell you! I got my snoozing son settled in his crib and ripped that sucker open! And there it was- my sign! Not only was it a wooden sign, but it was a different kind of sign too- the ones that you look for on days that you really need them. It couldn’t have come at a better time!
It was a gorgeous handcrafted sign, wrapped in burlap ribbon with a wooden Starbucks tag attached. The more I looked at it, the more I fell in love. It was totally “me” in every aspect. The chevron print, the Bel Air sign, the piece of record… its just screamed “TIA!”
I could go on and on about it all day so to make a long story short, I love it! I am so happy with the results of this exchange and I am eagerly awaiting the Winter one.

It’s funny how someone you’ve never really met can make your day so special.
